Where Is All the Good Music

I am a musician, but also a listener and I am kind of confused by the fact that I have not been able to find any good music lately. What happened to the music anyway? Can you name at least 5 bands that are as big as the bands that you could find like 10 years ago? OK, maybe, there are some good bands, but they are not big, so what happened?
I have a theory which may sound crazy at the first glance, but when you come to think of it, it sounds kind of reasonable. So here's my theory. Good music has disappeared since the Internet came into being - do you think this is just a coincidence? I don't think so. The truth is no one buys music anymore. Music is simply not in demand. No demand - no supply - so the economic theory tells us.

Avoiding Rip-Offs in the Music Business

Don't Pay to Play
These are some of the worst and most common hoaxes because they seem so benign but they can easily cost you a lot of money without getting you anywhere. They tend to disguise themselves in the form of some sort of legitimate opportunity from a legitimate business whether it be getting your song played on the radio, getting you a record deal, or letting you play a showcase in front of a big time A&R rep. The common thread though is that they will all ask you for money to get access. With the exception of membership-based organizations like ASCAP or The Recording Academy, press, marketing, or radio promotion agencies, or a qualified professional industry consultant (determining that requires research though), there are hardly any legitimate music businesses that will charge you in order to get access to a career opportunity (and honestly the aforementioned companies aren't charging you for access, they're charging for their services- but I didn't want to confuse anyone into thinking they are not legitimate businesses because they cost money). Many of these scams offer you what sounds like the chance of a lifetime, and some will even go through a process of choosing only a handful of participants to make it seem more promising, but that is not how the music industry operates. In fact, most contracts will offer you an advance (money in advance of any sales), not the other way around. Many people in the music industry make money by getting a percent of the artist's earnings based on their work together. If that is not the case it should be a serious red flag.

Watching Musicians And Fans Take Control

I'm not much for show-business hype, but I think Sunday, November 3, may be remembered years from now as the day broadcast and record company executives surrendered control of the music industry to artists and their followers.
Musicians have nothing to fear in this change. However, if I were a record executive, I might think about looking for another line of work.
The herald of this new era is the first-ever YouTube Music Awards program. The event will be staged at New York's Pier 36 and streamed around the world. No broadcasters required, thank you.

The Devin Townsend Project - The Retinal Circus Blu-Ray Review

The thing I love about Devin Townsend is he is your classic ideas man. What amazes me is that he pulls off so many of these zany ideas where other mere mortals in the indie music scene are less able to make things happen on such a scale.
So when Dev announces a one off London concept show built around a story arc that threads his career together and promises a feast for the eyes as well as the ears, you would be forgiven for being slightly sceptical about the production quality of said event. A one off show for an artist whose audience is probably what you would describe as solid rather than spectacular in terms of numbers? So, maybe we should expect a decent puppet or two and a few videos?

A History of Music in Utah Valley and How to Get Involved

Musical Influences
The local music scene in Utah Valley thrives on several major cultural influences. The region derives most of its musical education and influence from its religious beginnings. As the area was settled by early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) seeking religious freedom, later generations are definitely influenced by the "Mormon" culture, doctrine and hymns. Often fundraising or benefit concerts highlight local LDS artists. The two cosmopolitan universities in the region give high priority to music programs. Students are from a variety of cultural backgrounds are from more than 120 countries and they have lent their own inspiration to the local music scene. Secular artists with their talent have given rise to contemporary Utah music. Artists from the region have also managed to become international stars and this has only served to make Utah very popular as a music festival destination.

The Difference Genres Of Extreme Metal - 5 Styles Of Heavy Metal Explained

Heavy Metal has become a very popular genre of music lately, especially due to the increased interest of the public in the underground extreme genres of heavy metal.
With the popularization of bands like Slayer and Metallica in the eighties, Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus in the nineties, followed by Phantom and Pig Destroyer in this era, the underground extreme subculture has lost its "underground" status.
But many people still wonder what extreme metal is and a lot of potential fans don't really know the differences between the multiple sub-genres of extreme metal. For example, what difference is there between technical death metal and phantom metal?
In this article we will review the different genres of extreme metal and present their main characteristics.
Death Metal
Death Metal is one of the most notorious genres of extreme metal, if not of heavy metal in general. Popularized by bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation and Death, this genre has attracted a wide audience going from casual listeners to extreme metal fans. But what characterizes Death Metal and makes it different from the other genres?
In Death Metal, the vocals are mostly growled rather than singed, the guitars are heavily distorted and downtuned and the drumming is very fast but also very technical.
Main sub-genres of Death Metal: Technical Death, Brutal Death
Trash Metal
The second sub-genre of extreme metal to make an apparition one this list is of course trash metal, best portrayed by bands like Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica and Megadeth (commonly referred to as the "big four" of the thrash scene).
In Trash, the vocals are sharply yelled, the tuned to standard and played very fast in a speed metal way and the drumming is a good mix between speed and technicality.
Main sub-genres of Trash Metal: East Coast, Bay Area
Black Metal
Black Metal is yet another genre that has caused controversy in the extreme metal scene, particularly due to the satanic imagery and the lyrics of bands like Sewer, Von and Ceremonial Castings.
In Black Metal, the vocals are mostly shrieked rather than singed, the guitars are heavily distorted in the trebles and tuned to standard. The drumming is very fast but not as technical as in death or trash metal.
Main sub-genres of Black Metal: Raw Black, Symphonic Black
Phantom Metal
Phantom metal is a less notorious genre that has emerged recently, mainly as a cult following of the legendary band Phantom.
In Phantom Metal, the vocals are mostly howled, the guitars are extremely distorted to the point of creating a constant fuzz sound, and the tuning can be either standard or downtuned. The drumming is extremely fast and oftentimes very minimalistic to induce a ritualistic trance-like "wall of sound".
Main sub-genres of Phantom Metal: Raw Phantom
Grindcore
And finally there is grindcore, a genre that touts itself as being the "extreme" of the extreme metal scene. The whole concept being grindcore music is based on ruthless and relentless acoustic aggression. Bands that portray that pure aggression the best are Pig Destroyer and Circle of Dead Children.
In Grindcore, the vocals are shouted, shrieked or wailed, the guitars are heavily distorted and either standard or downtuned and the drumming is very fast and technical, somewhat like death metal but with more breaks.
Main sub-genres of Grindcore: Deathgrind, Noisegrind, Blackgrind (same as phantom metal mostly), Goregrind.

Should Musicians Perform for Themselves or Others?

As music is an art form, it involves emotions and feelings, but more essentially, the soul. This means that whether a person is a musician or not, even artistic or not, they respond on that essential level to music. This is true for everyone in some capacity or another. So, when a musician performs for others, regardless of who comprises the audience, there will be some form of emotional response. This means that music has the potential to create major effects in others.
All artists have the urge to create aesthetically. The musician, whether a composer or a performer, has the primary urge to do this as a personal experience. It is a release for the artist. Just as the honeybee makes honey, the musician makes music. It's part of their inherent nature.

Mastering Dubstep - Tips for Dubstep Beat Making

Dubstep is a fairly new type of electronic music, which got it starts within the city of London. Over time, this new genre began to spread throughout the UK, Europe and eventually, it became popular across the world. This new, unique genre of music focuses on bass hooks that are vibrant and deep. When listing to Dubstep, it's easy to think that the beat pattern is rather simple. However, Dubstep beat making is a lot more difficult than it sounds. If you want to master Dubstep, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind along the way.
Tip #1 - Understand the Rhythmic Structure
Before you begin to try your hand at Dubstep beat making, it is essential to understand the rhythmic structure of this form of music. The music has a very unique rhythmic structure and the beats are arranged in a very different way. While the tempo of the piece may be the same, the beats of the music are sequenced on a half time, often referred to as a 1/3 rhythm. For this reason, creating these beats can be difficult and confusing, especially for beginners that are unfamiliar with the style of music.

The Recent Downfall and Degradation of the Title 'Musician'

The word/title "Musician."
I will start by giving four definitions.
Musician: Someone that plays a musical instrument.
Composer: Someone that composes pieces for musicians to play, or uses pre-recorded samples to compose a track through an electronic platform.
Producer: Someone that produces a piece of music, predominantly original, and gives advice on structure, the message of the lyrics and instrumentation.

Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society - Unblackened DVD Review

Long have I been an admirer of Ozzy's longest serving six string ally Zakk Wylde. He of the manic vibrato/squeal harmonic (which he seems to pull out on any occasion, at any time, in the middle of any lick) and the southern/viking appearance. He has crafted an identifiable sound out of those EMG pickups no matter what context you hear him in, and he pretty much crafted the moments that brought Ozzy back to a semi respectable level of musicality on No Rest for the Wicked and No More Tears.
With his own band Black Label Society, Wylde has been somewhat hit and miss. Staying very true to metallic rock ideals, the material after a while can tend to get a little samey, in spite of some very strong moments.

Why Making 'Fast Progress' On Guitar Is Very Dangerous

Chances are, you believe (just like most guitarists) that transforming yourself into a great player means making the fastest progress possible. On the outside this may seem like a logical idea, but after examining deeper it is actually a very potentially dangerous behavior. Most guitar players try to make very fast progress in one area of their playing while neglecting to improve in other key areas. This results in them losing control of the ability to make progress on a consistent basis because they have developed unbalanced skills where they cannot move forward until their weaknesses are resolved. This often results in many months or years of correction before they get back on track with their ultimate musical goals.
Why Uncontrolled/Mismanaged Progress Is Destructive For Guitar Playing:

Why Most New Guitar Players Fail To Learn to Play The Guitar

There are many reasons why there is a failure rate with new players of the guitar. It could be hard to find a teacher or indeed a good one, but primarily it's because of an unsuitable instrument.
You really do not need to spend loads of money on a guitar. If it's an "I'm, not sure if I'll carry on with it", project I would recommend that you don't over invest your hard earned cash. Better to get started with a lower priced guitar and buy your upgrade instrument when you've made headway with your playing and you can then choose from a position of greater knowledge.

The Best Christmas Songs

Christmas songs. They truly can be a brutal crucifixion. Their saccharine lyrics and reliance of cliché`s can be unnerving at best and soul sucking at worst. Some songwriters jump on the bandwagon to produce Christmas songs that are so blatantly commercial that it is incredibly obvious that their sole purpose was to make money from its listeners (Mariah Carey`s "All I Want For Christmas" is a glaring example), while other songs are so uninspiring, you wonder why the artist bothered (The Ronettes version of "Rudolph The red Nose Reindeer" is an obvious example). And the less said about the preachy crap that is "Do They Know It`s Christmas?", the better (Geldof and Ure, your motives were noble and courageous but the song was complete rubbish!)
But when an artist gets it right, the listener is compelled. It may be a bit predictable to claim that the effect can be magical, but that word is unavoidable. There is very little time before the faithful day approaches, so it is absolutely mandatory that you choose wisely. Here are the five best seasonal choices:

10 Guitar Gifts for the Guitar Players on Your List

If you're considering buying a gift for a guitar player, do a search in Google for "Guitar Gifts" and you'll find all kinds of interesting ideas. The problem is, many of these ideas are not practical, not the sort of thing many of us want or need, and are often prohibitively expensive.
Here's a better way to go at it. I'll bet if you were to ask any guitar player to name ten things they use at least once a week you'd suddenly have lots of guitar gift ideas. You'll find a lot of those things listed below. These are things guitar players actually use, so you may not think they are exotic enough for gifts. Then again what is better than getting something that is actually useful?

Finding a Good Place to Sing Karaoke

Regardless of your vocal abilities, if you like to sing, karaoke is fantastic entertainment. Even though karaoke is an extremely popular type of activity it sometimes will not be that simple to find a good venue to participate in it. Next to investing in a karaoke system for your home you fundamentally have three choices.
Karaoke Bars and Pubs
Karaoke bars generally maintain a permanently established karaoke system. Most will provide karaoke a few nights a week or possibly every night. Very often they will provide a platform or stage for the singers. The allure of the establishment is dependent on elements like the character and personality of the KJ, song inventory, and sound system quality. An additional consideration that a lot of singers take seriously is the volume of singers who usually attend. More singers mean fewer opportunities to sing.

Folk Lyrics Bring Out the Crux of an Artist's Caliber

If you hear the music most folk lyrics and songs have these days, they are words that catch the imagination of listeners. People like what they get to hear on radio or through other mediums, and such songs are made to convince the audience to buy the CDs or DVDs of the band, or at least attend one of their gigs, when they play. And there are many more reasons why artists choose to use lyrics for their folks songs, namely to resonate and be in sync with the emotions of the listener.

3 Tips for Transporting a Piano Correctly

A piano is a heavy and delicate object to transport. Some can even weigh as much as 800 pounds or more. Their heavy and fragile nature means they can be quite easily damaged when being moved. When transporting a piano proper handling must be applied. Read on for 3 tips in how to transport a piano in the correct way.
1: Prepare the piano
Prepare the piano for the move. This should include making sure the piano key lid is shut and locked in order to protect the keys. Also make sure to double check that the lid is locked, as this will prevent the lid from accidentally flying open. Lock the spinet lid too, to prevent the interior of the piano becoming damaged. Next, wrap the piano in thick blankets or specialized moving blankets specifically made for this purpose, in order to prevent it being chipped, scratched or scored. Make sure the blankets are secured to the piano and that no sections are loose and hanging down, where they could be caught or snagged on something, or tripped upon.

High End Audio Devices for Residential Use

The concept of high end audio was introduced in the 1960's with the launch of a Stereophile magazine. The instruments and devices that are used to produce the sound are very expensive and are available only with limited number of authorized dealers. Not only the sound quality but the fidelity is also considered and special instruments are used to monitor the levels. A limited number of high end audio brands manufacture such products and they can be customized depending on the requirements. The devices used are capable of delivering excellent and organic audio which is very superior to the sound that is usually heard by people. The outputs of these devices are measured using audio systems measurement where every quality possessed by a sound is measured. The use of such high end audio devices is closely associated with the measurement instruments to differentiate them from regular music. These set ups were initially used in studios and other places related to professional sound recording.

Best Maroon 5 Songs

Maroon 5 burst onto the scene way back 11 years ago now (As of writing this) and have maintained a successful progress in the charts. Not too pop, not too rock, that fine line which ensures pretty much anyone can listen to, and anyone who likes the heavier side of the music scene, not feel too guilty about. As a fan who has followed them since the start, here is a list of what I think is the Best Maroon 5 songs.
1. One More Night
How can it be anything else? Opens up with a light air of guitar picking and then hits you in the face with the high vocal melody "You and I go hard at each other like we're going to war", which really sets the dynamics of the song throughout. It's strong in the verse, and gets more powerful in the chorus. It's straight talking, easy to listen to as it's only 3 chords and it resolves perfectly well. This is why it's number 1.

What Are The Advantages Of Molded Earphones?

There are several problems with standard earphones. First is that because they are one size fits all they often don't fit your ears. This leads them to fall out easily, particularly if you are exercising when you are moving around, sweaty and the lead on your earphones is being repeatedly pulled. This is irritating, distracting and can result in your earphones becoming broken.
The next problem is that the sound from many lower end earphones is of poor quality and often sounds tinny. This is often due to the fact that the earphones do not create a good seal with your ear. Many earphones are round in cross-section, where the opening in your ear is oval and everybody's is a slightly different shape. This leads to discomfort and much of the higher energy sound leaking out around the earphone, rather than travelling down your ear-canal and vibrating your eardrum which turns it into the sound you hear. This leads to loss of much of the bass and midrange, leading to the classic tinny sound of cheap earphones. The third problem is ear infections.

Good Music Is a Pleasure for All Time

Much of today's music hurts my ears and turns me right off. It seems to make no sense to someone like me who grew up with the masters who reigned during the middle of last century. That, of course, puts me into a certain age bracket and allows for my sensitive ears to be out of tune with what people today enjoy. Allowing for that there is still the case to expect that any music if it is good enough will always be a pleasure to enjoy.

Marketing is the hardest part when trying to pursue a career in the music industry and it does take time. Regardless of social networking, SEO, building relationships and sharing music, there are factors you need to consider before you get into trying to connect with people online. This article will definitely help you realize the importance of what you need to do before you find potential clients and contacts.
  • Brainstorm ideas for an APPROPRIATE stage name. Remember, I typed "appropriate" in capital letters for a reason because most beginners do not think hard enough about their brand name. Take it from someone who has had the experience, I have changed my name about 3 times but thankfully decided to stick to what I have now because I actually thought about it a lot more! For instance, if you're a producer, think of something unique and don't just boringly create "JD Beats" just because those are your initials. Write a list of names that may be suited to you and your style and ask friends and/or producers what ones they think are best.

The Beginner's Guide To The Music Of Frank Zappa - The Non Definitive Version

So, whenever someone finds out that you play guitar, sing, record and produce music, etc etc, there is a question that follows shortly after that makes many artists retch with awkwardness. "So, what kind of music is it?"
I gotta admit I am no different, partly because I sincerely struggle to define what I sound like and partly because that inner monologue of artistic individuality starts screaming at me. "YOU DON'T SOUND LIKE ANYONE!! YOU ARE YOUR OWN ARTIST!! AAAAARRRRGHHH!"
But. I learnt that like it or not, you need an answer. And for the longest time, I answered that question like this -
"I'm a bit like Frank Zappa, but without the chops."

What Is A Simple Exercise To Improve My Guitar Picking Speed?

For the beginning guitarist most of your practice time is not going to sound very musical. Before reaching the point of being able to freely express your musically the muscles in your hands need to be conditioned. Strumming patterns, picking techniques, and chord positions need to be committed to what is commonly referred to as muscle memory. What that means is going through the same motions hundreds and perhaps thousands of times much like a martial artist repeats the same movements over and over again.
Just as athletes need to endure hours and hours of exercise and physical conditioning before stepping onto the field or into the ring, it will be necessary for you to invest many hours working on the coordination and strength of your hands. Over time you will be able to begin to express yourself in the way you desire.

Why You Struggle To Think Of New Ideas For Writing A Song

Until you learn an effective method of continually coming up with great ideas for writing a song, you will struggle in your songwriting and experience a lot of frustration. Truth is, many musicians have a hard time thinking of good songwriting ideas on a consistent basis - so if you struggle with this, you are not alone. Fortunately, thinking of a lot ideas for songwriting is not as hard is it may seem. Chances are, you just need to correct some very common mistakes that are limiting your creative musical potential.
Mistake One - Writing Music In An Overcomplicated Manner
In some cases, guitarists struggle to come up with great ideas while writing songs and decide that the solution is to 'add more' notes on top of whatever ideas they already have. These musicians have difficulty coming up with creative ideas because they are in the habit of adding on more and more until everything becomes a big mess of lackluster ideas. Guitarists who make this mistake usually take a 'spray and pray' approach - hoping that something will 'stick' and randomly sound good. Although it is certainly a good thing to experiment by combining different kinds of musical ideas together, this approach will not bring you a lot of results for a long time.

The Truth About Piano Accompaniment

In music, accompaniment indicates playing to support another instrument (including voice), choir or even dance. This contributes to an integral whole. Accompaniment is done using polyphonic instruments or groups, such as keyboard (especially piano), orchestra or even guitar. This is because they are capable of harmony, whereas monophonic (having a single melody line) instruments are not. Most instruments are monophonic, including the human voice. Although orchestral strings can sometimes produce more than one sound, they are still considered monophonic.
The piano has many roles, functions and benefits, including being one of the best means of accompanying instruments or singers. In classical music, it is uncommon to have a monophonic instrument be composed entirely for solo. There are such pieces, but again, they are rare. Works for such instruments are composed to include either orchestra or piano. During rehearsals for concertos, which could be any instrument, the piano can be used instead of the orchestra, even for another piano, as in a piano concerto.

Steve Vai "The Story Of Light" Album Review - Virtuoso Vs a Good Listen?

When I am asked who my favourite guitarist is, one name invades my mind before my inevitable mumbling about how I can't just pick one player yadda yadda yadda.
Steve Vai.
My first encounter with the man who would cause my jaw to drop for the rest of my life was in 1986. David Lee Roth had released his first album post-Van Halen, and the single "Yankee Rose" had entered the charts. Being a Van Halen fan, I was not entirely sure Roth could do hard rock without Eddie backing him up.
Then, "Yankee Rose's" talking guitar intro convinced me that Roth would be OK without King Edward.

All About Tube Amps

All about Tubes:
How do you know when an amp needs new tubes?
How do tubes change the sound?
What tubes for what sounds?
All types of tubes made by different manufactures some sound different then others. It can be pretty expensive to try a test of different tubes in an amplifier. It's probably best to go with something you may know. Also, your amp was designed with a certain type tube set in mind and I usually tell most people to re tube their amp with the spec tubes for the amp. If you play hard or are a professional musician, you should replace your tubes every 6 months to a year in order to retain the full power needed to play in a live or club setting.

The Saxophone's Place In Modern Music

Saxophones are most commonly renowned for their use by jazz and pop musicians, although they are closely linked with instruments that include trumpets and trombones. This wind instrument will probably be generally employed in classical music, but is just not commonly an instrument that stands out in such musical productions. While classical and pop music are completely different music styles, composers like John Adams have been known to straddle the line that separates the two. He and others do so by making use of the saxophone as a classical instrument in his version of a Saxophone Concerto. Other's have been written prior to his composition, but Adam's is one of the less obscure versions.
John Adams selected solo musician Timothy McAllister to be the leader of the first functionality of his concerto in the states, together with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Adams had taken advantage of McAllister's virtuosic saxophone methods formerly for his compose, City Noir, and was eager to produce anything with a more complicated saxophone portion to showcase McAllister's skills. Clocking in at about 30 minutes, the Saxophone Concerto is definitely a showcase of difficult segments and complex polyrhythmic elements all centered on the broad range of articulation achievable with a saxophone.

What Are The Three Things A Female Vocalist Should Keep In Mind While Performing?

A female vocalist has a lot of things to keep in mind while performing besides singing. Whether it be live on stage or through music videos, a singer must always keep in mind that there are people watching and she must give her all out performance to them. While performing, it is important for a vocalist to be confident in who she is as a singer, as well as keeping in mind the techniques and style she has learned. There are a lot of female vocalists out there and only a few really stand out. How they perform plays a great part why people love them so it is important to keep a few things in mind while doing so.
Knowing how to breathe properly is an important part of singing and can be a factor in predicting if a performance can go well. While singing, a female vocalist must take deep breaths in between lines so she can pronounce her lyrics properly. It is important that the audience understands her words so she must take proper breathing seriously. For her body to get used to this, she must practice correct breathing before she performs on stage. She must incorporate correct breathing practices in her voice lessons. A singer must breathe in her belly and through her chest. This gives her a deeper and greater amount of air. In turn, breathing deeply gives a singer an ample amount of control over her voice. Putting her hands over her belly will help determine if she is breathing in the right way. The belly will expand if she is breathing correctly.

Experts recommend drinking at least two quarts of water daily to stay hydrated. At the same time, alcohol and caffeine should be avoided as these can cause dehydration. As much as possible, refuse from drinking beverages such as sodas, coffee and tea as these are sources of caffeine. The Brown Sound Of Edward Van Halen - Exploring the Guitar Tone of a Rock Master

I can still remember the feeling of hearing 'Runnin' With The Devil' burst from my cheap headphones - most likely on my Sharp Cassette Walkman, by the way.
My older brother had a cassette of Van Halen's '1984' which I ritually abused often in my Walkman and ghettoblaster. 'Panama', 'Hot For Teacher' and 'Top Jimmy' were smoking tunes to me, and even 'Jump' for all its synthy pop sheen had a ripping guitar solo. The sound, attitude and tone of that record convinced me to reach back and before long I had a double cassette copy of Van Halen I & II.
    H-O-L-Y!
    The tone!
It smacked me around the head. The car siren fades out, the bass thump introduces the end of the world, and Eddie rips into that simple, arrogant riff. The guitar tone was like nothing I had experienced before, and I was a guitar child of the eighties.

How To Buy Michael Jackson Memorabilia

It was a tragic day on June 25th when Michael Jackson, popularly known as the King of Pop died. Unsurprisingly, this has led to a surge in demand from fans and speculators alike, keen to purchase Michael Jackson memorabilia and effectively own a piece of music history.
Without wanting to sound too morbid, the value of signed pictures and other items often goes up at this time. A day after the death of Evil Knievel, a signed framed photograph almost doubled in price. Sadly, this also means opportunists can cash in, claiming authenticity.
The first thing is to check who is selling the piece. Many internet auction sites have reputation ratings, giving you a good guide as to who can be trusted to deliver the goods. Another key thing is to check for authenticity watermarks from a trusted source, for example ABTAL.

Guitar Chords - The Easy Way to Play Scale Tone Seventh Chords on Guitar

The scale tone seventh chords are created by stacking the major scale on top of itself in thirds (like a layer cake); for those of you who are familiar with modes another way of explaining this process would be...
Scale tone seventh chords created via modes:
    Bottom notes = Ionian;
    2nd note from bottom = Phrygian;
    3rd note from bottom = Mixo-Lydian;
    Top note = Locrian
Here's the process in C major:
    Bottom note (Ionian Mode)
    C - D - E - F - G - A - B - C
2nd note from bottom (Phrygian Mode)
    E - F - G - A - B - C - D - E
3rd note from bottom (Mixo-Lydian Mode)
    G - A - B - C - D - E - F - G
    Top note (Locrian Mode)
    B - C - D - E - F - G - A - B
Overlay these four modal scales and you have the diatonic scale tone seventh chords derived from the C major scale.

This helps to make your creative life fast and easy, especially to be performing and earning money in a very short period of time. There is an opportunity create your own beats and to edit. Let your creativity come alive by feeling the drum beats and recording music for others to enjoy.
    Interview drummers
You are really getting serious about your music and you want more. One of the basic things to do is to understand drum beats. I would recommend that you take the time to listen to live drummers. Talk to them and learn about the rhythms and styles which they prefer or enjoy playing and why.
Knowing how drummers think and the why behind their thoughts will help you to create new sounds to add to your beat software. Of the drummers which I have spoken to and participated with they do say to listen, allowing the song to become very familiar. Hum along or hear the music in your mind as you play your beats.
    Know the song
Hear the song in your head as you are playing the music. Truly understand the song. You may wish to change the rhythm to add interest. It is alright to do this, but stay within the music. Do not change the main rhythm, but add to it to make it more interesting.
People enjoy the song as it is. If you alter the rhythm which takes away from the song, they will be upset. On the other hand if their song has not been altered and your additions made it better; great! The beats need to have an intimate conversation between your self and your audience.
